Jean is Vice Dean Education and Professor of Clinical Education at the University of Exeter. She is responsible for all educational activities in the Medical School, where the undergraduate programmes include Medicine, Medical Imaging and Medical Sciences. Professor McEwan has regular contact with the University of Exeter Medical school students in all stages of the MBBS and MSc Medical Sciences courses. She lectures and gives seminars, particularly in the hospital setting, and she teaches in outpatients, ward rounds and during practical procedures.
